We have had a wonderful last week at school. From lots of singing and dancing to preparing and eating wraps for our Teddy Bears Picnic, we have thoroughly enjoyed our farewell to the infants. We have also brought home a geranium plant to care for over the summer.
We love to sing and dance!
Sharing a story with a teddy …
is good fun.
First of all, we needed to grate the cheese,
cut up the lettuce,
as well as the cucumber and …
prepare the meat.
Once all the ingredients were prepared, we could start to make our wraps.
Delicious!
Is my wrap full enough yet?
Sharing is caring.
Here are our teddies, all by themselves, waiting for us …
to arrive!
We were very pleased with our wraps.
Finally, we took our cuddly toys onto the play equipment!
If you would like a larger pot to plant your geranium into, please help yourself to one from the container outside the Year 2 classroom.
Hello children and parents, What a week it has been… from meeting new teachers and watching the Year 6 production, to welcoming the new reception children, being super friendly and kind showing them around. As you can imagine, the real highlight of the week was when the children visited their new classroom and their new teachers.
Everyone was very excited! I really liked the climbing frame! – Indie My favourite part was when we did the glittery paper craft! – Georgie I liked the stars and the numbers! – Luke The teachers were very nice! – Lucy
Next week updates: We’ve decided to have our Teddy bear’s picnic on Tuesday. The weather is looking good so far, but has changed so many times (been checking since Monday :))… so in case it rains, we will have the Teddy bear’s picnic as part of the trip on Wednesday. So please send your children to school, with their teddies on Tuesday.
Trip to St Albans museum Please make sure that your child is wearing comfortable shoes and full school uniform. If it rains your child must have wellies and a raincoat, if sunny, sun hat. On the day they will need to have a backpack. Water bottles and home packed lunches should fit in the back pack. If you are planning to order school packed lunch, please make sure you let the office now ASAP. They can choose cheese or tuna sandwich.
On Monday Year 3 went to the cathedral for an art workshop. The workshop was linked to our current topic in art. The children designed and decorated their very own clay tile. The clay tiles were inspired by the architecture and art from inside the cathedral. We ended the day by having a picnic at Verulamium park. Here are some photographs from the workshop.
Yesterday for transition morning the Nursery children spent time in reception with their new teacher. They read stories, played games and even made some lovely sparkly crowns.
Nursery have been working really hard on their fine motor skills – in particular pencil control. This week we had a go at drawing on white boards, we had to copy what was happening on the screen step by step. Very tricky! Take a look at how we got on, can you guess what we drew?
Nursery Teddy Bears Picnic will be next Wednesday – 19th July. All children will need to bring in their favourite teddy bear/soft toy. Morning children can bring in a lunch/snack to eat and will be collected from the office at 12pm.
Hello everyone, big thank you for joining us on our Sports day. The children were absolutely brilliant remembering that sport is not just about winning or losing, it is about shared experiences and shared contest. We truly enjoyed all the activities and were very excited to try them all… and we managed to get through all the races, despite the light rain…. so lucky 🙂 Here are some photos from the day:
Well done children. You really deserved your medals and ice lollies!!!!
This week was our final week going to the library. Please make sure that you check for any library books in your house and if there are any, please bring them back next week.
In Little Wandle we continued revisiting tricky words, digraphs and trigraphs and also read even more difficult words like printed and smeared. We were learning that sometimes words that finish with-ed sounds have to be read with -t sound and sometimes with -ed sounds. Tricky isn’t it?
Transition Morning Thursday 13th July – At 8:45 reception children will need to line up outside Year 1 classroom to spend the morning in Year 1 with Mrs Thompson. They will come back to Reception after lunch for a normal pick up at 3:15pm.
Reception class trip will take place on Wednesday 19th July. We will leave around 9am and be back on time for pick up at 3:15pm. Please let me know if you can help on the day. We still need volunteers!!! Please let the office know if your child will have school packed lunch on that day.
Friday 14th July – Non uniform day – £1 donation Saturday 15th July – Summer BBQ – 12:30pm to 3:30pm
On Thursday we had a class celebration as the children made their First Holy Communion. Year 3 looked fantastic as they wore their best outfits to mark their First Holy Communion. We celebrated by sharing a prayer in the hall with Mrs Porter. We sang hymns and recited some special prayers. The children enjoyed a delicious spread which was generously provided by parents.
Sports Day!
We had sports day this week. The children took part in obstacle and relay races and sprints. Here are some photos of our sports day.
This week we have looked at the story ‘The Rainbow Fish’. The story is about the feeling you get when you share something with someone.
Thank you parents for coming to our Sports Day on Tuesday – the rain wasn’t going to put us off. The children did really well and I know they were thrilled to get a medal and have an ice lolly!
On Tuesday, the new deputy head came down to spend some time with the Nursery children and at the end of the day she read us a story.
