Aideen Porter – Headteacher Governor

I have always been interested in teaching from a very early age and after a 6th form work placement in my old primary school, my mind was made up ! I then crossed the water to start my teacher training in Trinity and All Saints College in Leeds. I graduated in 2000 with BaHons in Theology and Primary Education and then was drawn to the bright lights of London.  I am deeply passionate about making sure that all children in our care receive the very best start in their education and in their spiritual upbringing. I have held many coordinator roles over the years and have an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum. I have also held many leadership roles in schools in London and St Albans and I am now very excited to be appointed as the new Headteacher of this amazing school.

I have a fantastic husband who is very supportive of me and a wonderful daughter who keeps me on my toes!

Katharine Gibbons – Staff Teacher Governor

I started my career in administrative roles in London, after which my husband and I moved to St Albans to start our family. When they were young, I completed my PGCE and have worked at local schools, including St Albans & St Stephens and Cunningham Hill Infant Schools, where my subject leadership included Mathematics and PE. I was a parent governor at Cunningham Hill Junior School, which my three sons attended, for seven years. My role at St Adrian’s started in September 2021, as a “catch-up” tutor and am now also working as Year 4  teacher. The commitment to the educational, emotional and spiritual needs of every child in the school community is extremely high and I am looking forward to contributing to these areas.

Eleanor Christie – Vice Chair

I am proud to be the Vice Chair at St. Adrian’s school where I have two children in different year groups.  I live in St. Alban’s with my husband Michael who does the hard work of minding our children while I am at work as Head of Tax for a global restaurant group.

I volunteered to be a governor because I think quality education, pastoral care and community spirit are so alive at St. Adrian’s with many thanks to the staff, parents, volunteers and community.  Through my role as governor I want to be able to make a contribution to continuing the success of our wonderful school for our children.  I have 20 years experience working in large corporate organisations  and as a chartered accountant and I try to bring that experience, financial skill set and different perspectives to my role as a governor to represent a parent viewpoint.

Sanchia Lyon – Foundation Governor

I’m a member of St Barts parish and have lived and worshipped in St Albans for the last 40 years. Previously I was a head teacher in Bedfordshire and Westminster with responsibility over 5 children centres. Before retiring, I worked for a charity who support children and adults with learning disabilities across London  working with families to understand and appreciate the skills and uniqueness of their children.
My son attended St Adrian’s and I know he cherished his time in the school. I feel now is the time to use my experience to help support the continued development and success of St Adrian’s and actively participate in Catholic life.
