Autumn Term

Last day of Autumn Term!

We have had  wonderful day which started off with an assembly saying goodbye to Mrs Ruffell and Mrs McSweeney.

After playtime we played a few games and then we opened our KrisKringle gifts. We had fun guessing who the gift was from.

Thank you for the generous gifts. Wishing you a restful Christmas break!

Festive Fun!

On Friday, we wore our Christmas jumpers and enjoyed a delightful Christmas dinner. The afternoon was filled with engaging Christmas crafts and lively Christmas games.

In maths, we focused on sharing in division. We used counters to help us visualise the groups. Here are some snapshots from our lessons.

In Design and Technology, we successfully completed our static electricity toys. We carefully designed our games, keeping the design brief in mind, and we’re proud of the way it turned out!

In science, we conducted an experiment testing the permeability of various soils, and we thoroughly enjoyed this activity!

Year 3

This week has been bustling with exciting experiments in Year 3! In science we have been learning about rocks and soils. We explored various chocolate experiments to illustrate different rock formations.

In DT we have been experimenting with static electricity. Here are some photos of our experiments.

Year 3 Celebrates Children in Need

We celebrated Children in Need by wearing spots and stripes. Here are some photos of our celebration.

On Multiplication Day, we played games to help us learn our times tables. Our favorite game was Around the Clock Multiplication. Each child filled in a section of the clock with the times tables.

Year 3 Geographers

This week in  geography, we embarked on our new unit: ‘ Uk, Towns, Cities and Features.’ We used maps and atlases to identify physical geography features. We then created detailed maps for each county, incorporating both its human and physical features.

Marvellous Magnets

In science, we are studying forces and magnets, we had a lot of fun experimenting with the strength of different magnets. We tested the magnet by looking at how many paperclips it could hold.

Year 3 Class Assembly

This week in Year 3, we’ve been busy preparing for our class assembly. As the assembly unfolded, we eagerly shared our recent, fantastic trip experiences and proudly showcased the incredible things we’ve been learning in class.

Stone Age time travellers

Our school trip to Celtic Harmony was a journey back in time to the Stone Age period, where we immersed ourselves in the daily life of Stone Age people. Our adventure began with den making where we worked collaboratively and built a shelter with sticks and branches. We then delved into the ancient art of Stone Age fire making.

As the day progressed, we explored the Stone Age diet, which consisted of nettle and herb soup. It was a day filled with hands-on learning and unforgettable experiences.

Fun first week in Year 3!

This week in English we have been exploring the story ‘Here We Are’. In groups, we wrote descriptive phrases about the land, sea, and animals. We used the images from the book to inspire us to write similes and expanded noun phrases.

Computing:

In computing we started our programming unit, here are some photos of us getting stuck in.

Clay Workshop!

On Monday Year 3 went to the cathedral for an art workshop. The workshop was linked to our current topic in art. The children designed and decorated their very own clay tile. The clay tiles  were inspired by the architecture and art from inside the cathedral. We ended the day by having a picnic at Verulamium park. Here are some photographs from the workshop.
