Across the school, we celebrated the crowning of Mary. In Year 3 we created artwork to represent Mary, Queen of All Saints.
Year 3: Geography Week
At the beginning of the week, we celebrated Earth day, reflecting on the things we’re grateful for on our planet. We also created pledges to protect it.
We began our new geography topic, which explores Europe and North America. We have linked this to our English work, where we have been developing our speeches about plastic consumption and how we can preserve our planet. We used our geography skills to analyse data to find out which country had the highest plastic usage.
Year 3: School trip to the Cathedral!
On Wednesday, we went to the Cathedral. We developed our map reading skills by using grid references to help us locate key objects in the Cathedral. Our favourite part of the day was making the clay tiles. We were inspired by the beauty of the Cathedral.
Magnificent Materials
In Year 3 this week, we participated in a science workshop centered around the exploration of various materials. Throughout the session, we rotated among four stations, each offering unique experiments and investigations.
At the initial station, our task involved predicting the hardness of different materials by testing them against a wood block.
Next, we conducted a chemical reaction aimed at generating carbon dioxide.
In another station we explored chromatography.
In the final station we examined the density contrast between oil and water by creating lava lamps.
Science Week!
This week, we’ve been fully immersed in science experiments aligned with our current learning focus: light and dark. Our journey began with exploring various materials and examining their reflective properties under different conditions. We also learned about how shadows are formed. Then, we created animal shadows with our hands. We concluded the week by planting sunflower seeds in preparation for our next science unit.
World Book Day!
We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite characters from beloved books. Throughout the day, we engaged in group reading activities and shared our favourite stories with one another.
On birthdays we encourage children to donate a book to our class library. As a token of our appreciation they get to wear a non- school uniform on their birthday. Our class wish list can be found on Amazon. Year Three wish-listhttps://amzn.eu/bXpVAyq
Year 3 Authors
In English, we were inspired by the book ‘A River’ by Marc Martin to create our own version of the story. We used descriptive language to describe the journey of the river. Here are some photos of our English display.
Maths
In maths, we explored the perimeter of various shapes. Here are a few snapshots from our lesson.
Children’s Mental Health Week in Year 3
This week has been bustling with activities centered around children’s mental health and Safer Internet Day. To kick off our week, we delved into the theme ‘My voice matters’ in class, exploring ways to use our voice to share what matters to us. We took part in a dance and yoga session to help us focus on our physical well being.
For Safer Internet Day, we immersed ourselves in various activities aimed at enhancing our online safety awareness.
Number day in Year 3
We marked Number Day with a series of engaging activities, including number investigations, times table games, and challenging number games that tested addition and subtraction skills.
Year 3 gets sporty
This week, we have been working on our new PE unit, badminton. We have been familiarising ourselves with the shuttle, developing our overhead throwing skills, tracking, and catching the shuttle. Here are some photos from our lesson.
