Year 2 - St Teresa of Calcutta
Welcome to our Year Two class page.
Year 2 is a wonderful year where the children learn to work imaginatively as a class team while respecting and encouraging one another's talents as individuals. They take pride in their work, always do their best, encourage one another and develop as caring individuals. They really do live out our school mission statement To learn To love To live!
A winter term highlight in Year 2 is our Christmas play. The children all work together to learn their lines, develop their acting skills and sing the songs with gusto! It is a memorable event for all involved and finishes with a finale centred around the nativity scene, with a clear spiritual and heartwarming message.

During the spring term, the children focus on five ways to wellbeing. They explore different activities that they can do to help maintain a positive sense of wellbeing and then share all of their ideas as part of an exciting and informative assembly that they present to the rest of the school as well as their proud parents and grandparents. These are valuable skills that the children will be able to use whenever they need them throughout their life.

As we head into the summer term, the class visit Lee Valley, where they participate in science and geography field work as they explore a variety of habitats, including meadow, stream and woodland. This is a very exciting trip and the children always spot wildlife that they have never seen before!

Key information
We love books!
Developing a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts we can ever give a child. Many adults remember the special books that we loved to read as a child, those books that made us laugh, smile and the adventure that they took us on.
At St Adrian's, we know how important it is to give every child this same passion for reading. We have filled our class library with a wide range of appropriate and exciting texts to cater for all kinds of interests and imaginations.
Below, you will find some recommended reads for Year 2 children, if you would like to enjoy sharing high quality texts with your child.
On World Book Day, Year Two dressed up as their favourite book character.
Just take a look at our imaginative costumes!

We had a great time writing poems and reading poetry books with our Year Six reading buddy.
