Year 2 visit Lee Valley 1st Jul 2026

Every year, the children spend a day exploring a variety of habitats at Lee Valley. They find all kinds of minibeasts as they pond dip in the stream, surrounded by nesting coots and ducks. This is very exciting morning, followed by an afternoon, hunting for creatures along an urban brick wall before heading through the woods to reach a huge meadow. In the meadow, the children are able to use sweeping nets to catch grasshoppers and crickets, before returning them all back to their natural habitat. Great fun outside, while learning about our natural world is a great way to spend the day!

Year 5 have been creative this week with the outdoor equipment and mud kitchen. They’ve made a a VIP area, a rope swing, fully functioning kitchen and a restaurant with a full staff and bouncers on the door. We had a lovely service on 1st May where we celebrated the special role that Mary played in Jesus’ life. The children did some wonderful artwork and they sang and read so beautifully. Parents very kindly donated plants for the altar which will then be planted around the school as well.

The Caritas Ambassadors had a very diffciult job judging our Easter art competition. Well done to all who took part and to our winners. The Caritas Ambassadors also organised a fundraising event. We managed to raise £356.11 for the ADDO project in South Africa which is run by the Sisters of Mercy.

We had a brilliant day filled with reading activities and exploring stories and our favourite characters.

In the spring term, we learn all about the Eatwell Plate. We design healthy wraps that include foods from different food groups. When we prepare the food, we learn how to grate cheese safely and also cut different foods, including cucumber using the bridge cut. Then, we have great fun making our wrap and learning how to fold it so that it does not fall apart

Our Prayer Gardens 2nd Mar 2026

Last summer, the PTA helped to fundraise for the development of our prayer gardens. We bought new planters , lots of plants and the 'flower ladies' at St Bartholomew's donated a beautiful Good Shepherd statue. All the children were involved in designing a pebble and also in creating the mosaic circles in the KS2 prayer garden. Fr John came to give our prayer gardens a blessing.

In October 2022, Isabel Thomas, came to open our school library. The PTA raised in the region of £14,000 to pay for all the furniture and all the brand new books for our children to enjoy.
