Good morning Nursery!
Today’s activities will be based around Epiphany. Epiphany is celebrated 12 days after Christmas on 6th January and is the time when Christians remember the Wise man who visited Jesus.
On Tapestry, under memos you will find a very useful Power Point presentation. You can share it with your child and talk about Epiphany, encouraging them to ask questions and share their own ideas.
Expressive arts and design:
Make a crown or decorate a box (or you can do both). To make a crown you need to cut a long piece of paper and attach some gems, pompoms or use PVA glue and add some glitter.
For the box (gift ) you can use any box from your kitchen and turn it around. Your child can then decorate the box with different colors paint. This is a great opportunity for you to talk about mixing colors and how they change. You can also try and make colors only using yellow, green, red and blue.
Most of all, have fun!
Fine motor skills
You can make yellow playdough today. Here is the recipe we use at Nursery, but you can always adapt it.
Once the playdough is ready you can then model the star of Bethlehem. This is a good place to talk about shapes and use some mathematical language:
- I made a big star, but yours is bigger!
- Mine is small.
- Let’s make enormous star… etc.
Please share your home learning with me on Tapestry. I would love to see your pictures, so do continue to share them!!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
