It’s the end of another fantastic week at Nursery. We were busy getting ready for Christmas, practicing for the performance and mastering new skills. The children have been singing their hearts out! They have learned all the Christmas songs and are now ready for recording our lovely performance next week. Thank you to everyone who brought their outfit into school.
RE – Advent
Advent is a time when we appreciate the love in our lives and prepare to celebrate love becoming a reality in the person of Jesus. Christians at Christmas celebrate the gift of Jesus, given by God as a sign and expression of God’s love.
In nursery we were very busy preparing for Christmas. We decorated our Christmas tree and lit the advent candle. We also learned a new song:
To the tune of ‘Twinkle, twinkle, little star’
Light the Advent candle come
Now the waiting has begun
We have started on our way
Time to think of Christmas day
Candle, candle burning bright
Shining in the cold winter night
Candle, candle in the morn
Reminds us of when Jesus was born.
Why don’t you have a go at home!
We also started our Advent Calendar and every day the children will have a different Advent challenges. Today’s challenge was to help mummy and daddy and get the table ready for tea!!!
Messy play:
This week we have tried a new recipe and played with a cloud dough. It feels just like snow and the children loved it. We added some mint flavor and Christmas cutters to make it extra special.
Talk for writing, The Enormous turnip:
I am feeling so proud of all your children. They already know the story so well and now are taking turns retelling it independently. We worked very hard and made our own story maps.
We even made a nice turnip soup with different spices and carrots. The children used butter knives to cut some carrots and scissors to snip the spices. Delicious!!!
Fine motor skills:
This week the children decorated stockings for the fireplace. I think that they look amazing!!! Then in CIL we made the fireplace and even added real logs…. great team work Nursery!
