Nursery – Fabulous Fireworks!

Welcome back Nursery! I hope you had a lovely Half term holiday. Big Thank you to everyone who shared lovely pictures and videos with me during the break. It’s been lovely seeing you all doing different activities and spending time with friends and family.

This week in nursery we have been learning all about fireworks. The children had various opportunities to explore fireworks.

Funky Fingers Activities:

We have been practising our prewriting skills by threading pipe cleaners through a colander and drawing fireworks with our fingers.

Our art table was so busy… We did fabulous fireworks with lots of glitter and PVA glue.

Physical Education:

The children had so much fun dancing with colorful ribbons, pretending they are fireworks. We did Catherine Wheels, Rockets and even Cascade movements. We also learned a new fireworks song. You can have a go too:

Religious education:

In RE this week we talked about Baptism. Children explored what it means to be ‘welcomed’ and draw on their own experiences.  For example, how do we welcome each other when we arrive at school?  We also talked about how we welcome a new baby into God’s family through Baptism.  We were focusing on the words “I baptise you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy-Spirit.” We even have our own church in the classroom! How exciting!!!

Things to remember:

Look at photos or other reminders of your child’s own or other family members’ baptisms.  Please send into school a reminder for your child to share in class.  This could be a photo, memory book, candle or item of clothing.

Please practise putting on a coat independently. As the weather is getting colder it is important children are wearing coats when going outside. You can try the flip technique explained below:

Lie the coat on the floor with the hood by your feet.

Put your hands into the arms and wriggle them in.

FLIP your coat over the head!

Thank you for your continued support!

Stay safe and enjoy your weekend!
