Governing Body Members

Richard Belt – Foundation Governor (Chair)

I have four children (now adults), all of whom went to St Adrian’s – the first starting in 1984..! I now have grandchildren at the school. I spent a long period of time on the PTA [some years as Chair], and have been a governor for over 20 years in total. I have remained involved at St Adrian’s because I believe that we have been blest over the years with the quality of our leadership and teachers, the ethos of the school, and the environment in which our children learn. Results achieved speak for themselves, and St Adrian’s is indeed a special place. I hope to continue as a governor for a little while longer, before handing over to new blood..!

Jackie Harrison – Foundation Governor (Vice-Chair)

I was first appointed as a foundation governor in January 1996, when my son was in Reception Class. I have continued to serve for what is now 24 years! I am a member of St Bart’s Parish and feel that by serving St Adrian’s, I am also serving the parish. I have served the governing body in a variety of ways. I was Chair of the Admissions Committee for about 12 years until 2015. I am a member of the Strategy and Personnel Group, the Finance Committee and the Premises Group as well as being a class link governor. I have served as Vice Chair for several terms and have also served on Workinggroups at various times. Since Head Teacher Performance Management was introduced in 2000, I have been Chair of the team of governors responsible for reviewing the HeadTeacher’s work. Maureen Roe – Foundation Governor

I am a parishioner in St Bartholomew’s Parish, where I serve as a Minister of the Word and an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. I’ve lived in St Albans all my life and always been involved in Catholic education. As a child, I went to Sts. Alban & Stephen Primary School, followed by Loreto College, before training to be a teacher. From 1988 to 2002, I was Head Teacher at St John Fisher Primary School, St Albans. From 2002 to 2011, I was the Deputy Director of Westminster Diocese Education Service, and continue to work for the Diocese on an ad-hoc basis as an education consultant. In November 2011, I was appointed by Cardinal Vincent Nicholls as a trustee on the Board of Governors of The Catholic Children’s Society [Westminster]. Outside my professional life, I have always had an interest in all sports. A keen golfer, I am currently Lady Captain of Verulam Golf Club.

I’m looking forward to serving St Adrian’s community and the Diocese, as a Foundation Governor.

I became a foundation governor in September 2018, having attended St.Adrian’s myself as part of the class of 2005 and thoroughly enjoying my time there. I saw this a great opportunity to give something back and contribute to the continued improvement of the school.

I sit on the finance committee and am part of the Mathematics Core group. My background is in finance having studied Economics at the University of York and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2019.

I look forward to continue to serve as a foundation governor and contributing to the St. Adrian’s Community.

Dominic Tang – LA Nominated Governor

In the Autumn of 2013 I ceased working as a Chartered Management Accountant, of 16 years, to be a full-time dad for my two daughters and house-husband to my wife Joanne.  With what little spare time I have, I’m keen to get involved in the community where I can – I first became a Parent Governor of St Adrian’s in September 2014 and was appointed Treasurer of the PTA in February 2016.  My other volunteer work has involved me leading Pre-School Worship as a Catechist at St Barts (since the start of 2013) and being Treasurer of the Leversetock Green Village Association.

I feel very privileged to be on the Governing Body and I aim to contribute as best I can to the success of the pupils and the school.

Eleanor Christie – Parent Governor

I am proud to be a parent governor at St. Adrian’s school where I have three children across different year groups.  I live in St. Alban’s with my husband Michael who does the hard work of minding our children while I am at work as Head of Tax for a global restaurant group.

I volunteered to be a governor because I think quality education, pastoral care and community spirit are so alive at St. Adrian’s with many thanks to the staff, parents, volunteers and community.  Through my role as governor I want to be able to make a contribution to continuing the success of our wonderful school for our children.  I have 20 years experience working in large corporate organisations  and as a chartered accountant and I try to bring that experience, financial skill set and different perspectives to my role as a governor to represent a parent viewpoint.

I am involved in the PTA Committee and volunteer at school listening to children read. Being a Governor at St Adrian’s is a role I enjoy and I am committing to achieving the best for our children.

Barbara Bliss – Clerk to the Governors

I’ve been Clerk to Governors since my own three children were pupils at the school, when I was actively involved both as a parent, and (for a number of years) part time school secretary. My background is solidly secretarial, with experience in several senior roles. This has helped enormously in fulfilling the duties of the post, which mainly covers administrative responsibilities, not least basic statutory duties, allied to the effectiveness of the Governing Body. I live in Park Street with my husband, am a founder member of St Bart’s HCPT Group, and now have the joy of a grandson at the school. Over the years, I’ve seen lots of governors come and go, but all have had the same things in common – a huge capacity for hard work, commitment and personal dedication – and it’s been a great privilege to serve them on the governing body.
